These new, themed, One-Day Workshops for 2008 follow the same pattern as previous workshops, where you paint along with me in stages, creating a complete painting by the end of the day, that hopefully you will be proud to hang on your wall. The price includes refreshments on arrival, morning tea/coffee, a buffet lunch, and afternoon tea/coffee. They all commence at 9.30am concluding at 5.00pm and the fully inclusive price is £69 per workshop.

Wednesday 27th February, Sketching and drawing. New for 2008.

I have noticed on previous workshops that a lot of the delegates lack confidence with their drawing. So with this in mind I have devised a workshop purely on drawing and sketching, with the aim of improving your confidence and training yourself to observe. All you need for this one will be plenty of paper, various types of pencils and a putty rubber. Cost £69

Tuesday 4th and Monday 15th September, Improve your buildings.

If you feel you would like to add buildings to your landscape to provide a much-needed focal point, but you struggle with perspective and architectural detail, or you just would like to make them look more solid and convincing, then this would be a good one for you. Cost £69

Wednesday 16th July, Along the Edges. New for 2008

The rocky out-crops and extensive views along Derbyshire’s grit-stone edges are among my favourite subjects and have provided me with endless material. In this workshop I will choose a view from one of these edges, paying particular attention to the techniques for making the rocks look solid and convincing, while at the same time softened by the grasses and heather. Cost £69.

Friday 29th February and Friday 2nd May, A bridge and reflections in water. New for 2008.

Getting the shape of the bridge just right and then making the reflections convincing is one of the most demanding but at the same time one of the most rewarding aspects of landscape watercolour painting. It’s not as difficult as it might seem however as there are techniques and methods to enable us to simplify the subject and make it less daunting. Cost £69.

Thursday 28th February, and Monday 29th September, Rustic buildings. New for 2008.

Old sheds, barns, farmyard clutter, areas where nature is creeping round the edges; all these things make excellent painting subjects, giving the artist an opportunity to work freely and loosely, exploring a wide variety of colours and tones. Less disciplined than more regular buildings but still requiring a considered approach, there’s a lot to learn in this one. Cost £69

Thursday 17th July, Paint a Bluebell wood.

Getting just the right shade of blue and just the right amount of it. Achieving that bright, spring green, whilst making a smooth transition from the distance to the foreground. All these potential problems when trying to create a bright, life-like spring woodland scene will be covered. Cost £69.

Thursday 1st May and Saturday 27th September, A coastal scene with boats.

It can be quite tricky to get the shapes of boats just right and sometimes even more difficult to make them appear as a convincing part of the landscape. In this workshop we will create a painting that gives us the opportunity to respond to this challenge. Cost £69

Wednesday 15th and Monday 20th October, A woodland in autumn.

Autumn is a really beautiful season to paint the landscape, but it’s not as easy as it looks. In this workshop we will paint a scene rich in colour, light and atmosphere, hopefully with the feeling that you can walk into it. Cost £69.

Monday 3rd and Monday 10th November, Paint a snow-scene.

In this workshop you will be able to paint a snow-scene endeavouring to capture the atmosphere of a landscape cloaked in crisp snow on a bright day. We will be considering simplification and composition with a view to using a limited palette. Cost £69

Each workshop booking will require a £15 non refundable deposit,(cheque payable to Geoff Kersey Ltd). Balance due on the day. On receipt of the booking I will send out more details, including a location map and recommended list of materials.
